CONTENUTI
Il workshop propone un’ attività intensiva di alta formazione e perfezionamento rivolto a studenti di architettura, scenografi, attori, designer, costumisti, studenti di lettere, delle accademie d’arte e autori. Durante il workshop saranno progettate e realizzate strutture scenografiche intese come forme da indossare o comunque manipolabili in grado di mettere a fuoco e rendere visibile, attraverso la costruzione, “la forma del carattere”. Il carattere, attributo soggettivo che tratteggia il comportamento e la personalità di ogni individuo, rendendolo unico e diverso dagli altri, è stato oggetto di studi appassionati fin dall’antichità. Gli scritti di Teofrasto, i mimi di Herondas, le commedie di Menandro, sono soltanto alcuni esempi, inoltre numerosi sono stati i letterati, i filosofi e gli artisti, che fino ad oggi hanno descritto e immaginato le “deformazioni” che il carattere produce nei diversi esseri umani. Se tante sono le sfaccettature del carattere, ci domandiamo: quante forme ha una persona oltre a quella fisica più facilmente visibile? Come queste forme occupano insieme a lui lo spazio, definendolo?
Il workshop si concluderà con una performance dimostrativa nella quale saranno utilizzati e messi alla prova i dispositivi.

Architecture and scenography workshop

CONTENTS
The workshop offers an intensive activity of advanced training and improvement aimed at students of architecture, set designers, actors, designers, costume designers, students of letters, art academies and authors.
During the workshop, scenographic structures will be planned and realized as forms to be worn or manipulated, able to focus and make visible, through the construction, “the shape of the temperament”.
The temperament, a subjective attribute that traces the behavior and personality of each individual, making it unique and different from the others, has been the subject of passionate studies since ancient times. The writings of Theophrastus, the mime of Herondas, the comedies of Menander, are just a few examples, but many others have been the poets, the philosophers and the artists, who until now have described and imagined the “deformations” that the character produces in different human beings. If there are so many facets of temperament, we ask ourselves: how many forms does a person have besides the physical one that is most easily seen? How do these forms occupy space with him, defining it? The workshop will end with a demonstration performance in which the scenographic devices will be used.

The workshop will take place at Teatro Arsenale in Milano (via Cesare Correnti,11), a place which is particularly suitable for experimentation thanks to its size, atmosphere and history.

A maximum of 35 participants are admitted to the workshop
HOW TO PARTICIPATE

All entries will be assessed by the workshop’s scientific committee and will be acknowledged by August 10th, 2018.
