For Edward Gordon Craig

Inspired by the materials produced by the students of the course in Set Design and Spaces of Performance at Milan Polytechnic following their study and reconstruction of Gordon Craig’s principal systems of staging – professor PierluigiSalvadeo

Gordon Craig (1872-1966) is a landmark figure in the history of 20th-century theatrical reform owing to the revolutionary impact of his theories. With Gordon Craig the figure of the director took on a professional character in the modern sense of the term, assuming responsibility for the entire production. His writings, now unobtainable in Italian, reveal a profound understanding of the theater and an intuition of the future characteristic of great innovators.
